Our Firm

Allied/Cook Construction is a family owned full service commercial construction firm. Our company was established in Portland, ME in 1958 by Donald W. Cook. He owned and managed the firm until 1977 when his son, David H. Cook became president of the firm. David remains today an owner and CEO of Allied/Cook. In addition to David, a third generation of the Cook family is deeply involved in the business; Daniel, Matthew, and Sarah Cook have all chosen careers in the family business and plan on managing the company into the future.

In addition to the Cook family, Allied/Cook has many skilled, professional people in key positions. Our president, estimators, project managers, superintendents, and carpenters are all highly skilled, top caliber people with the ability to manage complex projects. A high percentage of our people have long histories with our company. Some have been with Allied/Cook for over 40 years, and many have been here over 10 years. We feel this is a strong testament to the stability and quality of our firm.

At Allied/Cook our entire focus is on providing the highest quality construction services to our clients. Commercial construction is the only business we're in. As a result, all of our energy is put into the projects we're working on for our clients.

Through this single minded focus, Allied/Cook has built a reputation in the construction industry as one of the premier builders in our area. We've established many repeat customer relationships with top companies and business people, and we continue to build our list of clients.

The management at Allied/Cook believes in being a good corporate citizen, and a socially responsible company. As such, we often provide support to area non-profit organizations, and we've taken it upon ourselves to get involved in the "green building" movement. Our company is a member of the US Green Building Council at the national level, and many of our people are members on a local level. We believe in the merits of sustainable building and regularly investigate the costs/benefits of green building with our clients.
